The Group insists that all adults in contact with young people have a valid, clear Disclosure check. This is commonly called a DBS Check (as the check is carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service).
If you need a new check, or yours needs renewing in the near future, you need to complete an ID check form, get your original ID witnessed by one of the leaders (or the group administrator) and get the form to the group administrator – either by emailing it or as a paper copy.

Disclosure checks usually take 2 or 3 weeks to come through, so please make sure you apply in plenty of time if it’s ahead of a particular event you want to join in with.
A couple of common issues with Disclosure applications to be aware of:
- Read the form carefully and make sure you have the right 3 pieces of ID.
- If you are using a passport it needs to be a valid one.
- If you are using a driving license, include the last two numbers at the end of the driving license number (usually out there on their own at the end).
- If you have a middle name, make sure it’s on the form! Your driving license number includes your middle initials (or not) and won’t allow the check to be submitted if your middle name is missing.
